The
Competition
Each October, the
Prairie Homebrewing Companions gather
together the best homebrew from the best homebrewers to determine who is the 'Great Pumpkin'
of brewers. Hoppy
Halloween 2010 was featured on BrewingTV.
The
Hoppy Halloween Challenge is known for its Medals hung from unique
hand-crafted Halloween
themed lanyards.
All BJCP categories
including mead and cider can be entered, but
the Hoppy
Halloween Challenge has a category unique to this competition:
Halloween
Theme Beer:
"Any beer with characteristics that would
identify it as being made for, and in the spirit of, Halloween."
How spooky can you brew?

Beer are available HERE.

Halloween Challenge XV
'The
Curse
of the Mummy's Thirst'
Final
Judging & Banquet: October 27th 2012
New
Special Category: Wet Hopped Beer
"A
beer made with fresh undried hops that displays the character of
those hops in the flavor and aroma"
Many
homebrewers grow their own hops and the these beers showcase those
hops to the fullest. Wet Hop beers can only brewed right after
the hop harvest and the hop flavors and aromas quickly diminish, so
October is the peak time for enjoying these beers. What better
way is there to celebrate the "hoppy" portion of
competition's name Hoppy Halloween than with a special beer
that accentuates the hops.
